Flight Review: American Airlines Airbus A330
From Madrid MAD to Philadelphia PHL
Economy Class | Flight AA741
This is the first time I flew from Madrid to Philadelphia and I was very surprised to fly on a much better aircraft on this journey than when I flew a few weeks ago on American Airlines Boeing 767-300 from New York to Barcelona. On American Airlines Airbus A330 from MAD to PHL the aircraft was the complete opposite. This plane is modern, has power outlets and an entertainment system for every seat. Furthermore, It is all leather rather than the fabric material used on older planes.
Every seat is equipped with their own entertainment system with a wide selection of films to choose from. Rather than the DC ports found on selected seats on older planes, this one has USB charging ports on every armrest which was great.
The entertainment system has a wide selection of films and TV shows to choose from. But touch screen fails from time to time which was annoying. At one point a flight attendant had to restart the entire system which was painful to wait.
When traveling economy, my favorite seats, of course, are the window seats. Although, it is uncomfortable because of the lack of storage space under the seat in front of you. It is much smaller, less space and cramps your feet.
The food was great and appetizing, I love how American Airlines Changes their meals very frequently. Great for frequent flyers so that we are not continuously eating the same dish for long periods of times.
American Airlines Airbus A330 used on the MAD – PHIL route is a much better aircraft than the Airbus 767-300 used from New York to Barcelona. I truly hope that on my next travel to Barcelona from New York I get to travel on an aircraft like this one.
