Restaurante Informal Barcelona
A semi-formal yet informal restaurant in the Gothic area of Barcelona
The Restaurante Informal in Barcelona is one of the most upper casual restaurants I’ve been to without the need to dress to impress. It’s not saying it’s okay to show up in your pajamas. But it is acceptable to go in a relaxed attire, and yet enjoy an upper scale atmosphere. The restaurant is located at a short distance from the end of Las Ramblas, facing the harbor of Barceloneta and is easily accessible by metro.
What caught my attention of this restaurant was how they gave us a complimentary glass of wine while we waited for the table to be ready. Interestingly, the Restaurante informal is actually in an open space plan of the hotel lobby. But you can’t feel that you’re in a hotel lobby when you’re inside. Also, the Fung Shui is on point.
The waiting area is lightly divided by a decorative wood wall that you can clearly see the other side. While we waited we were offered complimentary wine. I wondered if the open upper floor on top of the bar was another seating area. Also, yes shorts are also acceptable.
I’ve never a dish with black rice. Surprised I was to see paella made with black rice as well, and I had many paellas in my life-time. But it tasted delicious.
The appetizers they are well priced and at a decent portion to share. My favorite one was the sea bass and the braised octopus.
Not a big fan of sweets, but the ice cream with the hot fudge was incredible.
For the moment of truth, when the bill comes you get it in a nice decorative box and a business card for you to keep.
Restautante Informal is definitely one of the easy and great picks in Barcelona. I was impressed with the waiters, their knowledge and willingness to help which is rare to see in Spain especially Barcelona. The food was outstanding and I could see myself coming here again.
